BACKGROUND THEME & OBJECTIVES
“Greetings and best wishes from International and Inter University Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (IIUCNN), Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India.
We are glad to write to you that we are organizing an International Conference Offline on “Macromolecules: Synthesis, Morphology, Processing, Structure, Properties and Applications (ICM-2024)” 12-14 January 2024 at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India. The international conference will focus on the foundation of macromolecular science, the dynamics of the growth over 100 years, the present challenges, new opportunities and future solutions. We are delighted that many internationally renowned speakers have already accepted our invitation for the conference. As a special highlight, a lecture dedicated to Prof. Hermann Staudinger and his life will allow the participants to have a look into the early days of polymer science. Finally, a future forum will be organized in order to discuss current and future challenges in the field and to address possible solutions. The field of macromolecular science had celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020. Within this century, polymers have greatly changed human lives, based on the pioneering macromolecular hypothesis of Prof. Hermann Staudinger. Innovations in the synthesis and characterization of many different classes of polymers have been accompanied by an in-depth understanding of the behaviour of polymers in solution and in bulk. Even today the field is still growing, and numerous scientific key developments are emerging. New application areas are being generated and industrial products continuously improved. On the other hand, there are also pressing challenges for current polymer science, including issues related to recycling and the eventual fate of polymer materials, as well as renewability and waste reduction. Pending key issues of mankind may profit from polymer based solutions in the future, such as energy storage and conversion, new therapies for diseases, and even approaches to a circular economy. The Mission of this event is to recognize the importance of macromolecular science and the advances in research for sustainable development for the benefit of mankind; to stress that macromolecular science is widely used in vital spheres of scientific knowledge such as chemistry, physics, engineering and biology, and to highlight the continuous nature of scientific discovery.
In view of your excellent contributions to the field of polymer science, we would like to welcome you to give an offline invited talk at the conference. The scientific committee of the conference is aware of your published works in this field. We would appreciate if you could e-mail us a one-page abstract of the talk (in the ms word format) at the earliest to the conference e mail id: macromolecules@macromol.in an appropriate title could be decided by you.
BRAIN STORMING DISCUSSION MEETING ON JOINT PROJECTS AND COLLABORATIONS
During the conference there will be a brain storming discussion meeting in order to submit a joint project proposals to European Union under the “HORIZON EUROPE” (https://ec.europa.eu/info/research-and-innovation/funding/funding-opportunities/funding-programmes-and-open-calls/horizon-
europe_en#:~:text=What%20is%20Horizon%20Europe%3F,the%20EU's%20
competitiveness%20and%20growth) programs for funding between India, Europe and Rest of the world. We will also discuss other bilateral research programs between DST, UGC, INSA and DBT of India and Rest of the world. Please note that DST of India has signed bilateral agreement with almost all the countries in the globe. These include DST-NSF, DST-DAAD, DST-DFG, DST-KBN, Indo-French (CEFIPRA), DST-NSF, DST- Australia, etc. etc. This conference will act as a good platform to find partners for international research collaborations. The Chair of the conference, Prof. Thomas is very pleased to collaborate with national and international researchers for formulating joint projects, joint PhD program and joint interactions.
